What is "Charity Popcorn?"

Each registered CFC Charity will have the opportunity to share their organization's mission in 30 seconds or less. (It goes fast, like popcorn!) After 30 seconds, a "gong" will sound and your microphone will be cut off, so practice keeping it under 30 seconds! We encourage you to wear your charity's uniform (if you have one), bring props, thank federal employees for what their gifts via CFC mean to your organization, and otherwise make it fun and memorable! Example:

"Hi, I'm Jane Doe from Rocky Mountain Hunger Fighters. Over the past 10 years, federal employees have donated X thousand dollars to help us make sure that no child in Utah goes to bed hungry, ever. Thank you so much! See this balloon? (Holds up inflated balloon.) It's about the size of a human stomach. When it's full, like this balloon is full of air, it keeps the body and mind nourished. (Lets air escape.) But when it's empty, it doesn't do much good. You've helped us keep it full for years, and we know you will again. We are CFC #12345, thank you!"

Charity Display Guidelines

2016 Charity Display Guidelines and Information:

  • No more than two representatives per organization, please.
  • Prominently feature both your organization’s name and 5-digit CFC number at your table (Most organizations will share a 6-foot table with another organization. You will have three feet of a shared table on which to display your signage, etc.)
  • Include your 5-digit CFC number on all literature or giveaways
  • We suggest that your display and/or giveaways incorporate "Thank You" signage and information that highlights the RESULTS of federal employees' contributions from previous CFC drives. If you are new to the CFC, we recommend you have signage and literature that clearly illustrates what your organization can accomplish for $1, $5, $10 and $20 per paycheck (military personnel are paid monthly, and civilian federal employees are paid 26 times per year).
  • It is both inappropriate and forbidden to solicit in-person cash contributions during the event. Please do NOT put out donation jars, etc.
  • You may download the CFC logo from OPM’s CFC Website: http://www.opm.gov/cfclogo/logo/download.aspx
  • Do not sell anything or solicit direct contributions at the event. Rule of thumb: No money should be changing hands at your table!
  • No firearms or explosives of any kind may be brought to the event.
  • You will be provided with a table (shared with another organization), a chair (or chairs, as needed) and tablecloth for your display. You are responsible for any other display items, etc.
  • You may give away promotional items or individually wrapped food items. Please don't distribute anything messy or crumbly.
